Are You a SHOPPER - MOVER - or DRIVER? Rotarians will assist foster youth in setting up a place they can call home. This is fundamental to creating their foundation for success. On March 2nd, 6 former Foster Youth will visit Just in Time’s Distribution Center for a shopping day. There they will select everything they need to create a safe, comfortable, and reliable environment they can be proud of; everything from dressers, nightstands, dining tables and chairs, desks, dish sets, utensils, bedding, lamps, and much more.) To ensure success, we need approximately 24 volunteers. Each participant will be assigned a team of 4 volunteers to support throughout their shopping experience in the following roles: • 1 Shopper (Total of 6 volunteers): Helping a youth select items on their wish list and ensure all the items are marked for movers. The shopper will also be taking notes on items selected by the participant.
We will need volunteers to sign up by February 15th either on our Rotary website or by emailing Judy Rowles (tisirowles@cox.net) with your telephone number and the role you can fill. |

Join Rotarians as we step out and perform Community Service on the same day all around the world. District 5340 clubs are invited to Generate Hope which runs a recovery house for victims of Human Trafficking. We will be working inside the house on indoor cleaning and repair projects, as well as outside in the garden and yard area, improving the landscaping and providing needed clean-up. These work events are vital to support the facility and also to show the residents that people can be kind. Register for the event to receive confidential location details and more information on what to bring. Due to the need to keep the location confidential and have a clear list of volunteers, please sign up here. Guests are welcome. The location will be shared with volunteers in the week prior to April 27, and must be kept confidential. Please carpool. Indicate in the comments whether you can drive, how many you can take or whether you would prefer a ride. Join Rotarians from District 5340 for the first annual American flag placement at Miramar National Cemetery. We have 22,000 flags to place at gravesites beginning at 2:30 pm on May 25th in preparation for Memorial Day. We anticipate needing between 250 and 300 volunteers and expect that the flag placements will take no more than 4 hours. The cemetery is divided into 11 sections and volunteers will be assigned to a section. There is ample parking at the cemetery but we are encouraging car pooling. We will keep volunteers from the same club together as much as possible. Look for detailed instructions via email the week of May 21 which will include cemetery section map, distribution plan and instructions, and parking scheme with diagram. This is a District wide event. Sign up to either place or retrieve flags with the District Website District Military Coordination Committee: www.RotaryDistrict5340DMCC.com/operation-flags-for-vets-5-24-2024
